Anand Jain Transferred from J&K to Ladakh, Takes Charge as DGP

Senior IPS officer Anand Jain has been transferred from Jammu & Kashmir to the Union Territory of Ladakh and posted as Director General of Police (DGP). A 1999 batch officer from the AGMUT cadre, Jain brings three decades of policing experience to one of India's most geopolitically significant border regions. The posting carries considerable operational weight. Ladakh shares borders with both China and Pakistan and remains a sensitive zone from a security standpoint. The DGP position in Ladakh involves overseeing law enforcement across a vast, sparsely populated terrain with unique logistical challenges, and requires coordination with central security forces and the civil administration of the UT. Jain's move from J&K to Ladakh keeps him within the broader security architecture of the north-western region but shifts his primary area of responsibility to the newer of the two union territories, which was carved out in 2019. His prior experience in J&K should allow for a relatively smooth assumption of duties in a region with overlapping administrative and security contexts.
