Bihar Government Reshuffles Nine IPS Officers in Fresh Administrative Realignment
Bihar reshuffles nine IPS officers, with key postings at SCRB, ATS, and Bihar Special Armed Police as part of a law enforcement realignment.
The Bihar government has carried out a reshuffle of nine Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, redistributing responsibilities across key law enforcement formations in the state. The transfers affect positions ranging from Inspector General to Commandant level. Pankaj Kumar Raj has been appointed as IGP, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) in Patna, and has also been given the additional charge of IGP, Railway, reflecting the government's decision to consolidate oversight roles. Mrs. S. Premlatha steps into the role of IGP, De-addiction and State Narcotics Control Bureau — a portfolio of growing importance given Bihar's ongoing anti-narcotics efforts. Sanjay Kumar, serving as IGP, Special Branch, has been assigned the additional charge of IGP, Bihar Special Armed Police, broadening his responsibilities without a change in station. Sudhir Kumar Porika is posted as DIGP, SCRB, supporting the data and records function of the state police. At the battalion and operational level, Kumar Gautam joins as Commandant, Bihar Special Armed Police-5 in Patna. Sushant Kumar Saroj is posted as DIGP, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Patna — a high-priority role in the state's internal security apparatus — while also continuing to hold additional charge of DIGP, Traffic. Deepak Ranjan takes charge as DIGP, Anti-Dacoity in the CID, addressing one of Bihar's persistent law enforcement challenges. Manish Kumar Sinha is posted as Commandant of the Mounted Special Armed Police in Ara, while Ajay Kumar has been moved as Commandant of the Special Security Group in Patna.
