Thirteen State Police Service Officers of AGMUT Cadre Elevated to IPS
Thirteen SPS officers of the AGMUT cadre promoted to IPS, bolstering the Joint AGMUT IPS cadre with fresh senior leadership.
In a significant career advancement for officers serving in the Union Territories, thirteen members of the State Police Service (SPS) belonging to the Joint AGMUT Cadre (UT Segment) have been promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS) and allocated to the Joint AGMUT Cadre of the IPS. The AGMUT cadre, which covers the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory segment, is a composite cadre that services the police and administrative needs of several Union Territories and North-Eastern states. Promotions from SPS to IPS within this cadre represent a significant milestone for the officers concerned, moving them from a state-level service to the apex All India Service. The thirteen officers promoted are: Pawan Kumar, R. Subash, Sikandar Singh, Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, Laxmi Kanawat, Deepak Yadav, Dhirendra Pratap Singh, Nishant Gupta, Anand Kumar Mishra, Patel Aalap Mansukh, Satish Kumar, Shweta Singh Chauhan, and Amit Kaushik. SPS-to-IPS promotions are governed by a determined quota system and are processed by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs. These promotions bring the officers under the jurisdiction of the central government and open avenues for postings across Union Territories and central deputation roles. The batch of thirteen represents a substantial addition to the AGMUT IPS cadre, which has significant operational responsibilities across the UTs, including Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and Puducherry.
