The eighth day of the highly anticipated Neyveli Book Fair 2026 progressed with magnificent momentum, drawing crowds and continuing its stellar track record of catering to the diverse tastes of bibliophiles and families alike. The evening's grand literary events commenced at the iconic Lignite Hall, serving as a hub for cultural fusion, intellectual discourse, and artistic excellence.

The day's official function was presided over by Shri Ramachandra R. Parashar, Executive Director/MS & CPPM/CO, Computer & ERP, NLC India Limited..

The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. S.T. Ramesh, Dean (Academic), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirapalli.

In his address, Dr. S. T. Ramesh commended the spectacular scale of the event and expressed his happiness at being present during the silver jubilee celebrations of the Neyveli Book Fair. He highlighted books as lifelong companions and treasures to be preserved, noting that they offer far more than mere information—they provide deep knowledge and foundational principles for life. Appealing to children to read books in their mother tongue, he reminded the audience that reading truly makes a person complete. He fondly recalled former President APJ Abdul Kalam’s famous words: “One good book is equal to a hundred good friends, and one good friend is equal to a library.” Furthermore, he declared that literature serves as the bedrock for historical preservation and social change. Congratulating the organizers on their systematic planning and execution of a book fair on such a grand scale, he urged children to utilize the event to develop reading habits that will empower the next generation to realize the vision of India as a developed nation by 2047.

Honouring Traditions: Awards and Book Launches

Upholding the fair’s proud tradition of honoring the pillars of the literary world, the committee presented special awards to Eminent Writer Shri Harani (Thanjavur), for his exemplary and profound contribution to contemporary literature. Reputed Publisher M/s. Nanmozhi Pathippagam (Puducherry) was recognized for their outstanding role in publishing high-quality children's literature.

In alignment with the fair’s long-standing tradition of introducing new literary works to the public, two new books were officially launched during the ceremony - "Naan Sandhitha Kadithangal" written by the acclaimed Dr. Rathinapugazhendhi and "Vijayalayanin Vetrippunnagai" – A highly anticipated, gripping historical novel written by N.
