Government Mandates Two-Year Hard Posting for IPS Empanelment at IG Level
A new mandate requires IPS officers from the 2011 batch onwards to serve two years at the SP/DIG level in the central government for IG empanelment.
The Government of India has introduced strict criteria for the empanelment of IPS officers to the rank of Inspector General (IG). Officers from the 2011 batch onwards must complete a mandatory minimum tenure of two years at the SP/DIG level or equivalent within the central government to be eligible for IG or equivalent posts.
