IPS Karthick K Shifts to DIG, Kannur Range from Thiruvananthapuram Police
Kerala IPS officer Karthick K transferred from Commissioner of Police, Thiruvananthapuram to DIG, Kannur Range covering the North Zone.
IPS officer Karthick K (KL:2011) has been transferred from his position as Commissioner of Police, Thiruvananthapuram City, and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kannur Range / North Zone, Kerala. The North Zone, under his new charge, covers Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode City and Rural Police, and Wayanad — a stretch of districts along the northern tip of Kerala with a distinct law and order profile. The North Zone is regarded as a strategically important area due to its border proximity, communal sensitivity in certain districts, and ongoing concerns related to political violence. The DIG of this zone coordinates district police functions and handles escalated law enforcement matters that go beyond individual district police capacity. Karthick K's move from a city commissioner role — which involves managing a large urban police force in the state capital — to a range-level DIG posting shifts his mandate from metropolitan policing to multi-district supervision. Both roles are high-profile, but differ considerably in their operational nature.
