M N Anucheth Appointed DIG and Commissioner of IPR Department in Karnataka, Gets Additional Charge of Youth and Sports
IPS officer M N Anucheth appointed as DIG and Commissioner, IPR, Karnataka, with additional charge of Youth Empowerment and Sports.
M N Anucheth, a 2009-batch IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Commissioner of the Department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), Bengaluru. He has also been placed in concurrent charge of Commissioner, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, in Karnataka. The Department of Information and Public Relations plays a key role in managing government communication, public outreach, and media relations for the state administration. The IPR Commissioner is responsible for overseeing government advertising, press releases, and official events across Karnataka. The Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, which Anucheth will additionally look after, manages programmes related to sports infrastructure, athlete development, and youth engagement schemes across the state. Anucheth's dual charge reflects the state government's approach of assigning additional responsibilities to capable officers to manage departments where senior positions may be vacant or where continuity is needed. Such concurrent arrangements are common in state administrations. The 2009 batch of the Karnataka cadre has seen several officers move into senior administrative roles over the past year. Anucheth's posting to a communication-facing department marks a shift from a conventional policing profile, indicating the government's confidence in his ability to handle civil administration beyond traditional law enforcement functions. The orders for his posting were issued by the Karnataka government in its latest round of IPS transfers.
