Niraj Yadav, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers, has been transferred to Central Railway and posted as Additional Divisional Railway Manager at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai, moving from his previous position with East Central Railway.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus is among the busiest and most iconic railway stations in the country, handling substantial daily passenger volume across both long-distance and suburban services, making the ADRM posting at this specific division one of the more operationally demanding assignments within Central Railway's divisional structure.

The Additional Divisional Railway Manager role supports the Divisional Railway Manager across day-to-day operational, safety, and infrastructure functions within the division, with signalling-background officers such as Yadav often bringing particular attention to train control systems and interlocking infrastructure given the high frequency of train movements CSTM's operations require.

Yadav's move from East Central Railway, a zone with a markedly different traffic profile focused more on regional passenger and freight movement, to the CSTM division's high-density, high-frequency urban and long-distance operations represents a significant shift in operational scale and complexity.

Signal engineering officers reaching ADRM-level divisional postings reflects Indian Railways' broader practice of drawing divisional leadership from across its engineering services rather than restricting such postings to operations or mechanical cadres alone, a pattern that has grown more common as signalling modernisation has become a heightened safety priority network-wide.

CSTM's status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside its function as a major operational terminus adds a heritage-conservation dimension to certain infrastructure decisions within the division, a consideration divisional leadership must balance alongside routine operational and safety management.

The transfer and posting order was issued through the Railway Board's standard cadre management process governing IRSSE officer movements across zones.

Given CSTM's heritage status alongside its operational role, infrastructure and signalling decisions within the division often require additional coordination with conservation authorities, an added dimension to the ADRM's responsibilities beyond the operational and safety oversight the position carries at other, non-heritage divisions.
