Delhi's Joint CP Parmaditya Moved to PM Security Duty

The Lt. Governor of Delhi has approved the transfer of Parmaditya, a 2005-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, from Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) to Joint Commissioner of Police (Security), where he will handle Prime Ministerial security, along with additional charge of CP Licensing.

The Joint CP (Security) post within the Delhi Police is responsible for coordinating security arrangements for the Prime Minister's movements within the national capital, working alongside central security agencies. It is considered a sensitive posting given the coordination required across multiple security establishments.

Parmaditya's previous role in the Special Branch involved intelligence-gathering functions for the Delhi Police, distinct from the operational security responsibilities of his new posting. The additional charge of CP Licensing brings oversight of arms and other licensing functions under his remit as well, broadening his administrative load beyond the core security assignment.

Senior postings within the Delhi Police's security wing are drawn from a relatively small pool of AGMUT-cadre officers with prior experience in either intelligence or VIP protection duties, given the coordination such roles require with the Special Protection Group and other central agencies. As a 2005-batch officer, Parmaditya's move places him in one of the force's more closely scrutinised assignments, where operational lapses draw scrutiny at both the Delhi Police and central government level.

The transfer was approved by the Lt. Governor on Monday as part of routine reshuffling within the Delhi Police's senior ranks, and takes effect with immediate charge assumption as per the order.
