PESB Picks Madras Fertilizers' T Vannia Perumal for Director Production Post at BVFCL

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended T Vannia Perumal, currently serving as Deputy General Manager (Training) at Madras Fertilizers Limited (MFL), for appointment as Director (Production) at Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL). The recommendation clears the way for Perumal's elevation to a board-level position at the Assam-based fertilizer PSU. BVFCL, a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Department of Fertilizers, operates the Namrup Fertilizer Complex in Assam and is a key producer of urea for the northeastern region. The Director (Production) is a critical executive role responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations, plant efficiency, and production targets at BVFCL's facilities. Perumal's background in training and development at MFL — one of India's prominent fertilizer companies — brings functional expertise in production systems, workforce capability building, and process management to the role. His familiarity with fertilizer manufacturing processes is expected to be directly applicable to BVFCL's operational environment. The PESB recommendation follows a competitive selection process that evaluates candidates on leadership competence, sectoral expertise, and organisational fit. Final appointment will be subject to government approval following PESB's recommendation. BVFCL has been navigating operational challenges including plant modernisation and natural gas availability for ammonia production. Bringing in a production-focused director with industry experience is seen as part of a broader effort to improve the corporation's operational performance and sustainability.
