Prem Chand Named India's Ambassador to Cabo Verde

Prem Chand, currently posted at the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Cabo Verde. He belongs to the 2011 year of allotment of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Cabo Verde is an island nation located in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwest coast of Africa. While a small country in geographic and economic terms, India has maintained diplomatic ties with it as part of its broader engagement with African nations. The ambassador will be based in the region and represent India's interests across bilateral, trade, and development cooperation tracks. Chand's stint in Abu Dhabi, one of the busiest diplomatic postings for the Indian Foreign Service given the large Indian diaspora in the UAE and the extensive bilateral trade relationship, will have provided substantial consular and diplomatic experience before this transition to a resident ambassadorial role.
