Ravi Joseph Lokku Assigned Additional Charge of DG, BPR&D
Ravi Joseph Lokku, ADG at BPR&D, has been given additional charge as Director General following the superannuation of Alok Ranjan, as per the order.
Ravi Joseph Lokku, Additional Director General at the Bureau of Police Research and Development, has been assigned additional charge of the post of Director General, BPR&D, upon the superannuation of Alok Ranjan. Lokku is a 1995-batch IPS officer of the UP cadre.
BPR&D functions as the central research and training coordination body for India's police forces, working on modernisation of investigative techniques, forensic capacity and training curricula used across state police academies.
Lokku moves into the additional charge from his substantive post as Additional Director General at the same organisation, giving him direct prior familiarity with BPR&D's ongoing research and training programmes ahead of taking on the top post.
BPR&D's training modernisation initiatives have in recent years placed particular emphasis on cybercrime investigation capacity at the state level, an area of growing relevance given the rise in digital fraud cases reported nationwide.
The additional charge arrangement follows Alok Ranjan's retirement from service, with Lokku stepping in to maintain continuity at the organisation's helm while a regular successor is identified.
As officiating DG, Lokku will be expected to keep BPR&D's ongoing state police training collaborations on track during the transition period before a permanent appointment is made.
The additional charge takes effect upon Alok Ranjan's superannuation, as per the order.
