According to sources familiar with the development, Gupta is being considered for the position of Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission in Punjab. A 1988-batch IAS officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, Gupta's potential appointment would bring seasoned administrative experience to the energy regulation body in the neighbouring state.
