Dr. Sajjan Singh Yadav Appointed ACS and CEO of Delhi Jal Board

Dr. Sajjan Singh Yadav, a 1995-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), one of the most consequential postings in Delhi's civic administration. He simultaneously takes on additional charge as ACS, Industries, and Chairperson of the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC). The move sees Santosh D. Vaidya relieved of the additional charges of Principal Secretary (PS), Industries, and Chairperson, DSIIDC — portfolios that will now be managed by Yadav. The Delhi Jal Board is the principal water utility body for the national capital, responsible for water supply, sewage treatment, and wastewater management in a city of over 30 million residents. The CEO position at DJB is one of the most demanding roles in Delhi's administrative landscape, given the persistent challenges around water distribution equity, supply augmentation from the Yamuna, and the operational management of the city's sewage treatment infrastructure. Yadav's appointment comes at a time when Delhi continues to grapple with water scarcity during summer months and ongoing debates about the efficiency and governance of the Jal Board. An officer of considerable seniority and experience within the AGMUT framework, he brings both administrative depth and institutional familiarity to the role. The additional portfolios of Industries and DSIIDC add an economic development dimension to his mandate, making his assignment one of the broadest in Delhi's current administrative structure.
