SECR's Akash Patil Deputed to Konkan Railway as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer
Akash Patil, an IRSME officer with South East Central Railway, has been selected for deputation to Konkan Railway as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer.
Akash Patil, presently serving as Divisional Mechanical Engineer at PP Yard, Bhilai, under the Raipur Division of South East Central Railway, has been selected for deputation to Konkan Railway Corporation Limited as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer at Belapur, for a period of three years.
Konkan Railway Corporation is a public sector undertaking jointly owned by the Ministry of Railways and the state governments of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. It operates and maintains the Konkan Railway line along India's western coast, a route known for its difficult terrain of tunnels, bridges and monsoon-prone stretches, and periodically draws officers on deputation from zonal railways to staff its technical departments.
Patil is an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers, the central service responsible for mechanical engineering functions across the Indian Railways, including rolling stock maintenance, workshop operations and locomotive management. His current role as Divisional Mechanical Engineer at PP Yard, Bhilai, has involved handling mechanical maintenance operations for one of South East Central Railway's key freight-handling yards in the Raipur Division.
Patil moves from a divisional-level mechanical engineering role at South East Central Railway, a zone with heavy freight traffic centred on Chhattisgarh's steel and coal belt, to a corporation-level technical post at Konkan Railway.
The deputation reflects the routine practice among railway public sector undertakings of drawing technical officers with zonal operating experience to staff specialised engineering posts, particularly at Konkan Railway, where terrain-specific maintenance challenges call for officers experienced in heavy-duty mechanical operations.
As Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer at Belapur, Patil's responsibilities are expected to cover mechanical maintenance and engineering oversight along the Konkan Railway network, an assignment that will require adapting his yard-level operating experience to the corporation's coastal and hill-section maintenance conditions.
The deputation to Konkan Railway Corporation Limited is for a period of three years, effective from his posting as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer, Belapur.
