IRCTC Grants HS Sandhu Sixth-Year Extension as Chief Regional Manager in Chandigarh
IRTS officer Harjot Singh Sandhu gets a sixth-year deputation extension as CRM at IRCTC's Chandigarh North Zone office, up to December 2026.
Harjot Singh Sandhu, an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, has been granted a sixth-year extension of his deputation tenure with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) as Chief Regional Manager (CRM) at its Regional Office in Chandigarh, covering the North Zone. The extended tenure runs up to December 6, 2026. Sandhu's long association with IRCTC represents an unusual but notable case of repeated tenure extensions, reflecting the corporation's confidence in his continued contribution to the North Zone's operations. IRCTC's regional offices are responsible for catering services, travel and tourism business, and rail neer (packaged drinking water) distribution within their respective zones. Prior to his sustained posting at IRCTC, Sandhu had served as Deputy Secretary (ANL & PLG) in the UT Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), a posting that gave him exposure to Union Territory governance and central secretariat functioning. As CRM for the North Zone, Sandhu oversees one of IRCTC's busiest regional territories, encompassing a major share of passenger train catering contracts and tourism operations across northern India. His continued tenure ensures operational continuity at a regionally significant post. The approval for the sixth-year extension signals the Railway Ministry and IRCTC's preference for stability in regional leadership, particularly in zones with high operational complexity and volume.
