New leadership for electrical engineering at BLW Varanasi.

Ganesh, a senior officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers, has been reassigned to Banaras Locomotive Works in Varanasi as Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, moving from his previous posting at Southern Railway.

Banaras Locomotive Works, one of Indian Railways' key production units, manufactures diesel and electric locomotives for the network, making the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer's role central to overseeing electrical systems design, quality control, and technology upgrades for the facility's locomotive production lines.

Ganesh's move from Southern Railway, a zonal posting focused on operational electrical infrastructure such as traction and signalling power systems, to BLW's production-focused PCEE role represents a shift from zone-wide operational electrical maintenance to specialised locomotive manufacturing electrical engineering.

Indian Railways has continued to prioritise locomotive manufacturing capacity as part of its broader network modernisation and electrification push, placing sustained emphasis on production efficiency and technical quality at units including Banaras Locomotive Works.

The Principal Chief Electrical Engineer position at a production unit such as BLW differs from the equivalent zonal role, focusing on electrical systems specific to locomotive design and manufacturing rather than traction power infrastructure and signalling power supply across an operational zone.

Officers from IRSEE reaching Principal Chief Electrical Engineer-level postings at production units typically bring substantial prior experience across zonal electrical engineering assignments, building the technical depth the specialised manufacturing environment role requires.

The transfer and posting order was issued through the Railway Board's standard cadre management process governing IRSEE officer movements between zonal and production unit postings.
