IRS Officer Akash Jain Appointed Joint Director at NTA on Lateral Shift
2013-batch IRS (IT) officer Akash Jain has been appointed Joint Director at the National Testing Agency (NTA) on a lateral shift basis until December 2029.
The Department of Higher Education has appointed Akash Jain as Joint Director at the National Testing Agency (NTA), bringing a senior revenue service officer into the country's primary examination conducting body. Jain, a 2013-batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax), has been placed on 'lateral shift' basis for a tenure extending to December 4, 2029 — corresponding to the balance period of his four-year deputation at the Deputy Secretary level under the Central Staffing Scheme. His appointment is part of a broader effort to strengthen the administrative and operational leadership of the NTA, which has been under scrutiny in recent years over examination management and integrity concerns.
