MP Government Reshuffles Three Senior Lokayukta Superintendents Across Sagar, Rewa and Bhopal
MP reshuffles three senior Lokayukta SP-rank officers across Sagar, Rewa, and Bhopal to strengthen anti-corruption oversight and investigative independence.
The Madhya Pradesh government has carried out a targeted reshuffle within the Special Police Establishment (SPE) of the Lokayukta, the state's premier anti-corruption agency, by transferring three Superintendent of Police (SP)-rank officers across its key divisional units. The move, effected through official gazette notifications, is aimed at refreshing regional oversight and maintaining investigative independence across primary administrative zones. Yogeshwar Sharma, who headed operations as SP of the Sagar Lokayukta division, has been reassigned to lead the Rewa territorial division in the same capacity. In a corresponding shift, Sunil Patidar, outgoing SP of the Rewa Lokayukta unit, has been posted to the state capital to head the prestigious SPE Bhopal headquarters. The vacancy created at Sagar has been filled by Durgesh Rathore, who was previously stationed at SPE Lokayukta Bhopal as its SP. The Special Police Establishment functions as the autonomous investigative wing of the Lokayukta, mandated with uncovering institutional misconduct, prosecuting public service irregularities, and conducting field operations against corrupt practices across government departments. Bureaucratic experts note that cross-posting SP-rank officers between distinct administrative zones is a deliberate institutional practice to prevent entrenchment, reduce the risk of local compromise, and ensure fresh eyes on sensitive anti-corruption inquiries. Each of the incoming officers is expected to immediately review long-pending corruption dossiers, accelerate stalled prosecutions, and coordinate with district administration to reinforce accountability. The reshuffle underscores the state government's broader commitment to preserving the Lokayukta's credibility and operational vigor in combating graft across all levels of public service delivery in Madhya Pradesh.
