NTPC Appoints Premlata as Executive Director HR
NTPC has appointed Premlata as Executive Director (Human Resources), placing her in charge of workforce planning across the company's thermal and renewable energy operations.
New Delhi, June 16, 2026: NTPC Limited has appointed Premlata as Executive Director (Human Resources), giving her oversight of workforce planning across the company's 70-plus power stations and project sites.
The ED (HR) role covers hiring, performance management, and training for NTPC's workforce of over 17,000 employees — spread across coal-based plants, hydroelectric projects, and the company's fast-growing solar and wind portfolio under NTPC Green Energy Limited.
Premlata's appointment comes as NTPC tries to staff up for its renewable energy push. The company has set a target of 60 GW installed capacity by 2032, up from around 73 GW currently under operation and construction across all fuel types. Hiring engineers and project managers with solar and wind expertise has become a recruiting priority.
NTPC is a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power. Its HR division also manages an internal training institute network and coordinates with engineering colleges for campus recruitment.
