PESB Picks Anand for Director (Technical) Post at Bharat Coking Coal Limited

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Anand, currently serving as Executive Director (Mining/Production) at Coal India Limited, for the post of Director (Technical) at Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). BCCL, headquartered in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, is one of Coal India's key subsidiaries and the primary producer of coking coal in India. Coking coal is an essential raw material for steel manufacturing, making BCCL's operations critical to the country's metals and infrastructure sectors. Anand's experience in mining and production at Coal India headquarters is considered relevant for the technical leadership role at BCCL. The Director (Technical) at a coal subsidiary oversees mine planning, production efficiency, safety protocols, and capital expenditure on mining equipment and infrastructure. The PESB conducts a structured selection process for board-level posts in Central PSUs, involving review of candidates' service records and a formal interview. The board's recommendation is forwarded to the Ministry of Coal for final orders. BCCL has been working to improve production volumes and address longstanding issues related to underground mine safety and environmental compliance. A new Director (Technical) is expected to provide operational leadership as the company plans its next cycle of capacity expansion and mine modernisation.
