Uttarakhand Overhauls Senior IPS Leadership with Wide-Ranging Portfolio Reassignments

The Uttarakhand government has executed a comprehensive restructuring of its senior Indian Police Service ranks, issuing reassignments across critical wings including crime investigation, traffic regulation, telecommunications, disaster response, and zonal command. The administrative directive is designed to inject fresh operational focus into each division of the hill state's security apparatus. Simmi Sachdeva has been assigned the portfolio of Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Police Telecom and Fire Service wings. Riddhim Agrawal takes charge as IGP for Crime, Law and Order, while additionally managing the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) database and the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB). Krishna Kumar V K steps in as IGP for Traffic and the Government Railway Police (GRP). Neelesh Anand Bharne has been relieved of his additional responsibilities as IGP of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and as Secretary to the Police Sports Control Board. Anant Shankar, serving as IGP Training, takes on concurrent charge of the Crime Investigation Department (CID). Sunil Kumar Meena is deployed as IG for Personnel and PAC, and simultaneously takes over the Police Sports Control Board secretaryship. With an eye on the 2027 Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, Yogendra Singh Rawat — the dedicated IG for the mega-event — has been assigned additional charge of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Nivedita Kukreti Kumar has been posted as IGP of the Kumaon Zone, while Barinderjeet Singh at the Police Headquarters takes on additional charge of the Planning and Modernisation cell. The coordinated realignment ensures that each critical node in Uttarakhand's policing framework has focused, experienced leadership heading into a period of major regional events and continued urban growth.
