In one of the most extensive personnel reshuffles seen in recent times, the Tamil Nadu government has transferred as many as 56 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, effecting sweeping changes across the state's police administration. The large-scale redeployment touches nearly every level of senior policing, from Superintendents of Police (SP) at district level to Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) in major urban commissionerates. Among the prominent postings, E S Uma has been assigned as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at Headquarters, Greater Chennai, while KS Balla Krisshnan takes charge as DCP, Cyber Crime Cell, Greater Chennai Police, reflecting the state's increased focus on digital law enforcement. S Selvaraj moves to the role of DCP, High Court Security, Chennai, a sensitive posting requiring both vigilance and protocol expertise. In district-level changes, S Kuthalingam takes charge as SP, Salem; A C Karthikeyan as SP, Tiruvannamalai; Vivekananda Shukla as SP, Cuddalore; V V Sai Praneeth as SP, Tiruvallur; S Jeyakumar as SP, Dindigul; Gautham Goyal as SP, Virudhunagar; Yadav Girish Ashok as SP, Namakkal; and N Devanathan as SP, Madurai. S Arockiam has been appointed SP/Assistant IGP for Social Justice and Human Rights in Chennai, an increasingly important portfolio. In the metropolitan commissionerates, Dr G Vanitha is posted as DCP, Headquarters and Administration, Avadi Police Commissionerate; K Muthu Kumar as DCP, Traffic-South, Greater Chennai; G Gopi as DCP, Flower Bazaar; and S S Maheswaran as DCP, Traffic, Coimbatore. Specialist and enforcement roles also saw significant changes: Dr T Senthil Kumar goes to SP, Enforcement, Chennai; Sujit Kumar to SP-I, Cyber Crimes Division; Dr Bhukya Sneha Priya to SP, Mayiladuthurai; and Shristi Singh to SP, Tiruppur. G Nagojothi is now SP, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Special Investigation Cell, while G Jawahar joins as SP, Metro Zone, CB, CID, Chennai. The reshuffle underscores the Tamil Nadu government's intent to inject fresh energy and strategic leadership across the policing apparatus.
